Number of Cigarette Smokers Decreases as Vaping Becomes More Popular
As evidence in favor of vaping’s credibility continues to mount within England’s most prominent health agencies, so too does its popularity among its citizens. In fact, the number of Britons who smoke traditional cigarettes has declined to its lowest point since data collection on the matter began in 1974. More than one million former cigarette smokers have attributed kicking their habit to e-cigarettes, and an Office of National Statistics study published in 2015 showed 17 percent of adults were smokers, down from 20 percent in 2010.
However, the same 2015 study showed Blackpool, a resort town on Britain’s Lancashire coast still possessed the heaviest concentration of cigarette smokers in the UK with more than 25 percent. Scotland (19.1 percent), Northern Ireland (19 percent) and Wales (18 percent) have all registered similarly lower numbers, though recent figures out of Scotland and Wales have dropped significantly.
At the time the survey was taken, half of the 2.3 million who were current e-cigarette users said they used vaping to transition from and ultimately quit smoking altogether. Of that calculation, 22 percent vaped due to its lessened toxicity compared to combustible cigarettes, 10 percent said they preferred vaping, because it was cheaper than smoking and nine percent said they did so due to its acceptable indoor use.
These figures support public perception that e-cigarettes are a safer alternative to smoking, especially with the more advanced nicotine delivery systems now available. One such influential vapor device is the Aspire Gusto Mini powered by Element E-Liquid’s Ns20 nic-salts. This pod mod is perhaps the most convenient all in one (AIO) nicotine option for smokers looking to quit, or at least cut down their intake of nicotine.
This closed system device in conjunction with Ns20 delivers a satisfying nicotine experience to one’s craving without all the toxins found in analog cigarettes. Element E-Liquid already has developed numerous lines of award-winning e-liquids, and the Ns20 range lives up to the brand’s acclaimed reputation. Containing 20 mg of nicotine, the highest allowable in the UK, its smooth draw eliminates the harsh throat hit associated with cigarettes.
Medical and science professionals alike have been mixed on the validity of e-cigarettes as an alternative to smoking, or at least as a tool to aid smokers in quitting, but as continued analysis sheds more promising evidence in favor of vaping, there is mutual agreement that such nicotine alternatives are safer and less toxic than smoking tobacco.
