(Not So) Common Questions About Vaping

Many people who vape have a decent understanding of what goes into their hobby. They know what flavors they like; basic maintenance procedures and even how to build their own coils (advanced open-system vapers). But there are still a few things most vapers have yet to consider. Here are some not so common questions about vaping.

Water in Lungs

Do vape pens flood your lungs with water? - No. Vaping will not flood your lungs with water. Every time we exhale, a small amount of moisture is expelled from our bodies. Even if you vape, that moisture is more than enough to get rid of any miniscule measurement of water in your lungs. You inhale more water doing other activities such as swimming or showering.

Can vaping cause pneumonia? Vaping itself does not cause pneumonia. However, studies have shown that smoking analog cigarettes puts you at a higher risk for pneumonia than using e-cigarettes. There has been no confirmed correlation between e-cigarettes and pneumonia.

Age Restriction

Can I buy vape products that do not contain nicotine if I am under 18? This depends on where you are. In the United States, to purchase any tobacco product you must be at least 18 years of age. In some countries, the age restriction is 21. The best thing to do is to check the laws in your area before trying to purchase a tobacco or vaping product.

Can I vape while pregnant? It is never a good idea to smoke or use tobacco products while pregnant. Although vaping is a safer alternative to smoking, it is always better to err on the side of caution and cut it out completely while you are pregnant. *There has been no evidence suggesting vaping while pregnant causes birth defects.*

Is it a health risk to not clean your vape device? It is always good practice to clean your vape device. Moisture and residue can build up leaving contaminant molecules that can breed bacteria. This bacteria could possibly make you sick or worsen certain conditions.
